This project is one part to three that will ultimately show a frog on a lily pad in the water. Even though I did use different shades of green, I wish I would have done some more defining colors so the frog could be better noticeable. This project in particular was inspired by my very own mom, because she loves frogs and what better way to try out a new art technique than with an image and meaning behind it. I did find that it's not as easy as I expected and it's very time consuming. The glassware mosaic is like a puzzle in itself that you yourself create which I find is pretty cool. I think I'd like this technique better so far if i had practiced before.
This is part two out of three for the project that was inspired by my mom. During this process of the water, I found that the smaller pieces were more defining and the larger pieces look very out of place; This is another reason I recommend practicing before doing a final project. This part more than the first, I really got discouraged when trying to create my own puzzle. The different shades in this part of the project actually flow like the glares and shadows on an actual body of water.
This is the finished product of the "froggy" project that I was working on. The process of adding the mortar was easy, but scraping the excess mortar off was difficult. Overall this project took a lot of time and effort and I know I said it before, but I wish I would have practiced before jumping right into the project itself. I would definitely love to try to do this technique again with more practice.
As you can tell, this project is inspired by those nasty candy corns and the great holiday of Halloween itself! I think that my favorite part of the whole project and the process itself is that I used my own feet!! It tickled my feet a little bit! But, the hardest part was when I had to try to get the colors to flow and my writing to look kind of good. If you zoom in, you can see that there are some black dots and that they do not belong. Well, you're not wrong, I decided to go by a peer that was working on their own project and they were spray painting. Needless to say, he didn't do it on purpose, but it splattered on my painting. I definitely had fun while creating this piece of work and was happy that it went with the festivities.
This project took more time than I thought it would and I definitely would love to do it again! Te reason I chose a flower is because I've always loved flowers, they always lighten the atmosphere with not only their smells, but their looks as well. I feel as though each time I got a petal done, it looked like a real flower coming to life. As a child, my grandparents would bring me to Green houses and we'd pick the flowers out and I'd always pick the ones up off the floor that looked the prettiest to me and kept them to make a bouquet. So, even though this isn't a bouquet, this still makes me think of my childhood and memories with my grandparents. They are a major part of the inspiration I had tin creating this project. The project itself is called "Wild Flower".
This project is actually a sketch that I decided to do, because my dad and I want to get tattoos together and I wanted something original and this is what I came up with. The arrows is more or less because a way that my dad and I bond is when we go shoot the bow and arrows together. Pinterest was a big help for this one, because though I can shoot an arrow at a target and make it, drawing one is way harder, especially when you want it to go on your body. This project took me a long time, but it was worth it and I'll be sure to upload a picture of the tattoos when we get them!! The hardest part of this project was the letters and getting them just right, but I love the way it turned out.
This project was inspired by a project an upper classman had done when I was in art 1 and she did more of an aztec theme with the elephants than this. But, I decided I wanted to do a silhouette and instead of a black silhouette, I wanted to do a white one. After completing this project I found that I want to go back and add more to this project and I will in the future to better its quality. The process of creating this painting wasn't hard, but what was hard was being able to draw the elephants then trace them with the paint and fill them in over the black since they are white. It's kind of like a pun "white elephant" since it's Christmas time. (: Other than the rushed work, I think it turned out pretty
This is two projects in one: one is the zentangle design in the middle and the other is the matte board that I had to learn to cut. Zentangle has always been an interest to me and I've never actually tried it until now. I love the way everything just flows together and one thing leads to another. It is definitely time consuming and it takes a while to do, but if the passion and curiosity is there then you'll get a great result in the end, I promise you won't be disappointed.
This project was a fun yet frustrating one that isn't yet fully finished. It's a depiction of day and night that kind of blend into each other. It shows that you can't have one without the other and no matter what, both have beauty of their own. One without the other would be horrible. My work is not what I wish it would have been, the lotus flower is unbalanced and my colors blended as I was removing the wax. I personally love batiking; I've done it in the past and I loved my first batik so I decided to do it again. I will try again with a new project and I will have to just learn from the mistakes on this project and get back to the workshop.
